TELESCOPIC LADDER
3.8M
3.2M
2.6M

A telescopic ladder extends and locks by the foot so that the optimum height may be realized. The largest telescopic ladders can extend close to 3.8m. Telescopic ladders are made of aircraft-quality aluminium for lightness and strength. Their ergonomically designed latches are safe and secure when properly used and maintained. Telescopic ladders are more costly than regular step or extension ladders, but their convenience makes them a worthwhile investment. Safety IssuesIt is essential when extending a telescopic ladder to ensure that all safety latches are secure before stepping on the rungs. As with most products, there are slight design differences among telescopic ladders that make the higher-end models more secure than less costly options. Some telescopic ladders can be collapsed section by section. Less expensive models require just one latch to collapse the entire length, which can result in pinched fingers or painful falls for the unwary user.
Also, telescopic ladders should not be used around electrical wiring or during an electrical storm. That’s because telescopic ladders are made of anodized aluminium are therefore good conductors

A mig welder runs off electricity and uses the electrical current to raise the temperature of the base metal and fuse the filler metal (MIG wire) together in an electrical arc.

This is your welding process.

The electrical current is passed from the power point on the wall, into the welding power supply, through the welding torch. When the trigger is squeezed the current then travels through the contact tip onto the wire making the welding wire live and conductive. On the part you want weld, you attatch the "welding earth" lead. Then when the MIG wire touches the earthed part, the electrical circuit is complete. As a result, the electricity starts to flow making a flash of sparks and an arc is created.

This arc is welding, without it you have nothing. Remember that "arc welding" is the process of welding using electricity. Mig welding is still arc welding as it uses electricity to make an arc, it’s just that we call it MIG welding.

How Does an MIG Welder Operate?

MIG Welding

Welding is the joining together of two separate metal pieces with the use of extremely high heat, produced by an electric current, or arc. MIG (metal inert gas) welders work by feeding wire and gas simultaneously through a welding machine or gun. The wire and gas are fed continuously, because they are consumed continuously by the act of welding. The gas is an inert gas, and is used to protect or shield the area being welded from other gases that are present. The gas displaces the air around the weld. Four types of metal contact or transfer exist: short-circuiting, pulsed-spray, spray and globular.

MIG Welder Components

The parts that make up a MIG welding unit are the control switch, the power source, the wire feed, the welding torch (or gun), the electrode or wire source and the gas supply. The torch is where all the parts come together for welding. The nozzle houses a gas diffuser and a contact tip, which has an opening that allows the electrode (wire) to move out of the gun. Pieces in the torch nozzle must be able to sustain very high levels of heat during the welding process; therefore the pieces in the nozzle are usually made of molded thermoset plastics, which do not soften.

Operating The MIG Welder

Voltage, gas and electrode must be chosen for the type of metal being welded. In MIG welders, Argon is usually the gas of choice. By pressing the control switch, the electrode is fed into the machine, and the welding begins. Letting go of the control switch stops the welding. The contact tip inside the nozzle is usually copper, and is connected to the power source. The contact tip guides the electrode to the pieces being welded. Because it is connected to the power source, the contact tip transmits the electrical current to the electrode as it also guides it. The arc is created between the electrode and the metal to be welded. The seam or stream of molten metal is not deposited until the electrode touches the metal.

Metal Transfer Modes

Each transfer mode requires different electrodes, currents and gases. Globular metal transfer uses carbon dioxide, and is used for flat steel surfaces, and when cost is an issue. Short-circuit metal transfer uses a low current, smaller wire and carbon dioxide, and is used only on ferrous materials, producing a much cleaner weld than the globular transfer. Pulsed spray uses Argon gas with the addition of a low level of carbon dioxide. Larger wire can be used, and the process works on almost all metals. It does, however, require a special power supply that can produce pulsed currents.

Guidelines to Drilling a Water Well

A well is an important source of water in rural locations.

For people who live outside the limits of a municipal water system, a well is the most common source of water. Drilled wells supply water from deep underground, which helps to ensure that the water is free of surface contaminants such as fecal coliform, pesticide residue or other pollutants. Many drilled wells are hundreds of feet deep.

Location

The location of your well is of primary importance. Obviously, it needs to be drilled where there is water available. In addition, it needs to be close enough to your residence so that pumping doesn’t present unreasonable difficulties. The well should be as far as possible from any potential sources of pollution such as septic tanks, agricultural fields, feedlots, barns or highways. Any of these things could potentially introduce manure residue, pesticides, fertilizers or salt into your water source. Consider hiring a dowser to determine the best location for your well. Although some people are very sceptical about dowsers, others are great believers.

Lining

When wells are drilled into the ground, they are lined by metal pipe that is inserted into the hole in sections. If the well goes deep enough that it begins to go through bedrock, the lining is no longer required. The metal pipe is left protruding from the ground by four or five feet as an access to the well. The well is connected to the residence by a pipe and is pumped up from underground to the residence. When hiring a well drilling company, do your homework and learn what kinds of linings they use, and whether they are comparable in quality and cost to other companies. For a domestic water system, it doesn’t pay to cut corners. Be sure to pay what is necessary to acquire a safe and dependable source of water.

Testing

Most universities and local governments have agricultural extension services that offer water testing. As soon as you are able to get water from your new well, take a sample and have it tested for contaminants. Low levels of contaminants don’t necessarily disqualify a well from use; you can install various types of filtering systems, including particle filters and infrared systems, to deal with the problem. High levels of contaminants may indicate a problem with the well installation or the location, and this problem will need to be addressed.

Metal inert gas welding.

MIG welding, or "metal inert gas welding," can be difficult if not approached properly. Welding with the MIG-welding method involves depositing a liquid metal onto workloads. Welding effectively bonds metals together permanently when the liquid metal that has been applied to the workloads cools. The bonding metal is heated and turned into liquid by a live current of electricity. MIG welders employ a number of tips and tricks to ensure they achieve proper, durable welds.

Shielding Gas

Shielding gases surround the live electric currents used in all methods of welding. They are employed to keep the current steady, preventing erratic movement, which makes welding much easier and allows for more precise welding. Different shielding gases are employed in MIG welding, depending on the workload. Carbon dioxide shielding gases are the most efficient shielding gases to use when welding on thicker steel. A shielding gas featuring 25 percent carbon dioxide and 75 percent argon is recommended for use on thinner gauge steel. Argon by itself or in combination with helium is an efficient shielding gas for welding on aluminium. For welding on stainless steel, a combination of argon, helium and carbon dioxide is recommended.

Grounding

Welding involves using live electric currents. A proper ground is essential in providing a constant, uninterrupted stream of electricity while welding. Sometimes it can be difficult to start MIG-welding equipment. Proper grounding also allows for quicker starting voltages. Copper is one of the most efficient electrical conductors available. Unfortunately, most modern grounding clamps are manufactured with plated steel featuring a small amount of copper on the clamps, according to Welding Tips and Tricks. Older grounding clamps used to be created out of 100 percent copper. They are much more efficient at providing starts and can still be purchased at certain locations.

Other Tips

It can be exceedingly difficult to weld one-handed. The welder should steady her welding gun with both hands while MIG welding. This allows for more accurate and even welds. The electric current in MIG welding is drawn through a contact tip at the end of the welding gun nozzle. This contact tip should protrude about 1/4-inch from the nozzle to create efficient welds. For welding applications involving very thin sheet metal, having the contact tip stick out 3/4-inch will make welding easier.
